Multiple slits gets ugly because now you start dealing with situations where all slits constructively interfere, some slits constructively interfere and some destructively interfere, etc., and these depend on slit width and distance between slits and require some additional assumptions (which in practice are usually reasonable to make) These would occur at difference in wave travel distances of n wavelength (peaks) and (n+0.5)wavelength (troughs), where n is a nonnegative integer. In between the peak and trough is some non-exact amount of interference. It gets a little more complicated with troughs. The central peak corresponds to constructive interference since the waves all approximately travel the same distance to that point. This is why you get peaks and troughs on your diffraction pattern. When the slit is a specific width (about the width of the wavelength), the waves originating from the different points across the width of the slit interfere with each other. So, when a wave passes through a slit, you see it behave just like a point source would (ie waves propagate around the slit). Essentially, each point in a wavefront can be regarded as a point source.
